Experience the magic of the Arctic night on a Northern Lights reindeer safari in Salla, Finnish Lapland. With over 30 years of experience in reindeer safaris, Salla Wilderness Park offers the best reindeer experiences in Lapland.
Ride your own reindeer sleigh through snow-covered forests and open wilderness, far from artificial lights. Along the way, feed female reindeer and calves up close and enjoy a peaceful campfire stop with hot drinks.
Our 4 km sleigh ride offers a chance to spot the Northern Lights (aurora borealis) under the Arctic sky, if the weather allows. Discover authentic Lapland traditions, reindeer and wilderness with experienced local guides.
How it unfolds

Arrival
Check in and gear up
Check in at the front desk and meet up with your guide. Warm overalls, winter shoes and mittens are provided if needed.

Before the start
Safety instructions
Our guide will provide driving instructions and go through the safety guidelines before the safari. Instructions are in English

Step 1
Sleigh ride through the wilderness
You sit down in the sleigh and enjoy the silent ride. Glide through the dark Lappish forest. One adult per sleigh; children sit with a paren

Step 2
Reindeer feeding
Hand-feed the females and calves. Learn about Arctic reindeer herding traditions and get that unforgettable photo.

Step 3
Fire and drinks
Gather around a big bonfire to warm up and enjoy hot drinks. If the weather allows you might see the magical northern lights.

Step 4
Return
In the end of the night we make our way back to the lights and Wilderness Park main building. Take the last photos of your ride!
