With children, you know best how long they can sit in a reindeer sleigh or a canoe. On cold days, take an extra look at their clothing. Children always join together with a parent.<\/p>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"min-w-0 max-w-prose\">\n\t\t<p class=\"eyebrow\">Clothing<\/p>\t\t<h2 class=\"font-serif text-2xl text-night sm:text-3xl\">How should I dress for the cold?<\/h2>\t\t<div class=\"prose prose-lg mt-4 text-night\/80\"><p>Dress for the weather, in layers. A thermal base layer keeps your skin dry, a wool or fleece layer keeps you warm, and a winter jacket and trousers, or an overall, keep out the wind and wet.<\/p>\n<p>Wear at least two pairs of socks, thick woollen ones if you have them. Two pairs of gloves work well too: thin ones underneath and big, warm mittens on top. Leave jeans and cotton at home, as they do not keep you warm.<\/p>\n<p>If you need them, we lend winter overalls, winter boots, warm mittens and woollen socks for our safaris.<\/p>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"min-w-0 max-w-prose\">\n\t\t<p class=\"eyebrow\">Cold<\/p>\t\t<h2 class=\"font-serif text-2xl text-night sm:text-3xl\">Is there a temperature limit for safaris?<\/h2>\t\t<div class=\"prose prose-lg mt-4 text-night\/80\"><p>We have not found it yet. Our coldest reindeer safari so far was at \u221242 \u00b0C. On cold days we adapt the programme and make sure everyone is dressed properly for the weather.<\/p>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"min-w-0 max-w-prose\">\n\t\t<p class=\"eyebrow\">Seasons<\/p>\t\t<h2 class=\"font-serif text-2xl text-night sm:text-3xl\">When does winter start in Salla?<\/h2>\t\t<div class=\"prose prose-lg mt-4 text-night\/80\"><p>Winter is in full swing by early December. The first snow usually falls in October or November, depending on the year. If there is enough snow in November, safaris can start then. Snow often stays until late April.<\/p>\n<p>In November and at the end of April, safaris run according to the weather and can be cancelled due to force majeure.<\/p>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"min-w-0 max-w-prose\">\n\t\t<p class=\"eyebrow\">Northern lights<\/p>\t\t<h2 class=\"font-serif text-2xl text-night sm:text-3xl\">When can we see the northern lights?<\/h2>\t\t<div class=\"prose prose-lg mt-4 text-night\/80\"><p>The season starts in mid-August, when the nights get dark enough, and lasts until early April. You need a dark, clear sky. Find a spot away from street lights, ideally with an open view to the north.<\/p>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"min-w-0 max-w-prose\">\n\t\t<p class=\"eyebrow\">Food<\/p>\t\t<h2 class=\"font-serif text-2xl text-night sm:text-3xl\">Can you cater for special diets?<\/h2>\t\t<div class=\"prose prose-lg mt-4 text-night\/80\"><p>Most of our programmes include something to eat and drink. We are happy to serve vegetarian, gluten-free or other special diets. Let us know when you book, so we can prepare.
